Morning meeting? Pay bills? Attend family gatherings? Fix wire? Laundry? Let’s be honest, are we able to check off these lists at the end of the day? If yes, how many of those were not done because of forgetting?
Need not worry because you are not alone. Dr. Faubion likened our minds to an internet browser with too many tabs open at the same time. And just like computers, it normally gets slower to respond.
Yet, it is still as important to note how and why our minds can get weaker in memory over time. This article gives us possible explanations and allows us to reflect on our own lives too.

1. You are experiencing stress
Our brains automatically release the stress hormone cortisol when we are stressed, anxious, or pressured. As a result, it can be hard to focus on anything and process everything. When you have too much food on your plate, the inconvenience would still go back to you. No matter how much we avoid not getting stressed, life happens.
2. You don't have enough sleep
Sleep rewires and cleans our brain, so if you never get enough sleep in a row, it certainly affects parts of the brain. If you don't feed the brain with sleep and rest, then maybe toxic substances will take place. The poor shuteye affects memory. Moreover, there's no denying how sleeping can improve health and mood.

3. You are a woman approaching or going through menopause
Menopause does not just let you experience hot flashes, mood changes, and sleep problems. It also impairs memory skills. As Dr. Faubion shared, women have more multiple risk factors that make them more vulnerable. All these conditions combined do not guarantee a conditioned mind.
4. Maybe you are partying and drinking too much
Getting a bottle of one or two slows our central nervous system. In turn, the brain is dependent on the central nervous system which clearly impairs recalling stuff more often. Dr. Petersen also assured that tolerance and memory get frailer each time because of old age and vulnerability.
5. Your medications could be getting on the way
We attempt to escape the body, head, and stomach pains by taking certain medications in the hopes that we may feel better. Some of these pains may even disrupt our sleep, that is why many quickly run to purchase any. However, it is important to note that certain medications are not as friendly as the others. Benzodiazepines and other medications for anxiety and allergy are known to impair memory.

This is not a new thing. However, if you are experiencing something that normal people do not usually experience, then it is time for a more serious consultation.
