New Year's isn't only about parties and get-togethers. It's also about making new resolutions and actually sticking to them this time around.
For ordinary people, there is always something in our personal lives and personalities we need to work on. But what about successful people? Do they also have something on their to-do list? Do they even scratch their heads when coming up with resolutions at the beginning of every year?
Well, they most certainly do! And today, we're going to tell you what successful people's new year resolutions look like.
#1 - Create A Sinking Fund
We all have multiple savings accounts, but do each of them serve the same purpose? Guess not!
An emergency savings account is for unforeseen circumstances. Retirement savings account for meeting our post-retirement goals. Similarly, you must create a savings account for all the high-priced things you are willing to purchase for the coming year.
Surprisingly, this is where your sinking funds come in handy. As per Money Peach founder Chris Peach, your sinking funds are automatic savings accounts that you build for days with plans of spending them on big-ticket items. It could be anything from a Christmas gift and a vacation plan to a loved one's wedding. You only have to decide where and how much you're going to spend on and then divide the amount with the remaining months.
#2 - Work on Your Dreams
We all have that one dream we've secretly fantasized about for years. Why not try and make it come true this year around?
Working on a goal you've been dreaming about for ages has a deeper value than any other goal you otherwise might have on your mind. Plus, since it has consumed a fraction of your headspace during all these years, accomplishing it will not only make you believe in yourself but also push you to dream bigger and achieve more.
#3 - Get A Mentor
A great thing you can do for your career and personal life is finding a good mentor. Regardless of whether you aim to lose weight, grow your business, or strengthen your relationship, a good mentor can always act as a polestar to guide you. Whether you are a real estate agent looking up to Manny Khoshbin or an investment banker idolizing Kevin O’Leary, you can start by finding your ideal role model and then ask them if they can help you with your aspirations. Once you meet them, try and stay in touch and keep them posted about your progress. And every once in a while, it doesn’t hurt to catch up and discuss your problems with them either.
Summing it Up!
Making New Year resolutions isn't a tough job, but it is in fact staying true to these promises that leads to many sleepless nights. We hope that for this coming year, the task of attaining your dreams gets easier for you, and may you achieve whatever your heart desires.
