Headaches are the worst - literally.
You could have back or leg pain but nothing can spoil your day quite like pain in your neck or head. Not only does it hurt but it also disrupts your focus and attention from daily duties and chores. Headaches can have several causes such as stress, posture, vision problems, dehydration, and more. Headaches also have different types which can be triggered in different ways but severe ones are intense in nature and might even require medical attention if they persist. These severe headaches include the likes of migraines, ice picks, or sinus headaches.
If you are someone who suffers from headaches, you may already be carrying a pack of aspirin or ibuprofen in your bag. But what about the times when you don’t have any medicine? Are you going to let hours upon hours pass by as you writhe in pain? Absolutely not!
In times like these, the following tips are going to help you out significantly.
1. Getting Hydrated
Believe it or not but most of the headaches that you deal with are probably caused by dehydration. The main concept behind it is that since the human body is predominatly made up of water (approximately 60%), it requires water to maintain most of its bodily functions. An example of this can be our blood vessels that begin shrinking when there is not enough water and thus triggering headaches.
2. Hot or Cold Compress
This trick is as old as time and happens to be quite effective too. Compressing is when you take a cloth and press it against your head or with the help of another dense object. You can use a dry cloth for this purpose but to increase efficiency, it’s advisable to dip the cloth in hot or cold water.
3. A Good Ol’ Massage
You don’t always need to be at home or at a doctor’s clinic to relieve yourself from bodily pain. If nothjing else, you can use your hands to massage the affected area and soothe the muscles and nerves under the skin. This helps your muscles release the tension similar to a compress and you’ll gradually start to feel better after a few minutes.
